Brittany Smith is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and visual merchandiser based in Southern California. Her artistic practice places a lens over the fields of textiles, fashion design & printmaking. She is moved by the narrative capabilities of cloth, as well as the self-sustaining practices of making, mending, and dyeing earthen fibers by utilizing natural and sustainable materials.

As a child of the African-American Diaspora, she believes strongly in upholding the narratives of those who have been forgotten, displaced, disenfranchised, and systemically oppressed. She loves the tactile and the process driven, and revels in seeing the inner workings of her mind materialize through her hand. She believes in the power of manifestation as well as doing, making, and speaking with intention. She combines the tender fragility of cloth and the precision of design to materialize garments and objects that exist as physical narratives to be read, seen, felt and adorned on the body.
